To make things easier, Airports Authority of India (AAI) will start digital payment system for paying parking charges at the aerodromes this month.

The national airport's operator, which is not charging parking fee at aerodromes till November 28 midnight in the wake of demonetisation of high-value currencies, will begin the digital payment mechanism from November 29.

In a release on Sunday, AAI said it will put in place digital payment mechanism at its operational airports.

Car parking charges will be accepted through "e-payment transactions using debit/credit cards, Paytm, freecharge and other digital payment methods".

According to the release, free of cost car parking services provided by AAI will end on the mid-night of November 28.

"With effect from November 29, (00:01 hours.), AAI resumes charges/fee for car parking through e-payment transactions at all its operational airports," it added.

There are 75 operational airports, including six run under joint ventures.

People have been facing cash crunch after the government withdrew Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes earlier this month as part of a crackdown against black money.
