The man killed in a car blast in Dugri village here earlier this month was allegedly a human bomb, highly-placed sources claimed today.
The sources said that Ajay Sharma, who died in the blast, was a "human bomb" and with his friend Jagmohan, who was injured, had conspired to kill a self-styled godman in the explosion.
Refusing to comment on the issue, Arpit Shukla, IG, Jalandhar Zonal 2, said, "An investigation is on in the matter and we would inform if anything surfaces in the matter".
However, he said that during interrogation of another accused Hardeep Singh, who was arrested recently, revealed that they were planning to conduct more blasts all over the state.
On the basis of information provided by Hardeep, a tiffin bomb was recovered by divers from a drain in his hometown in Kapurthala district and it has been sent for forensic test, he said.
Hardeep had dumped two tiffin bombs in the drain after Ajay's death in blast.
An investigation is on in the matter and the reason behind the blast could be ascertained only after Jagmohan recovers, Shukla said.
However, in the investigation so far no link with any terrorist outfit has been found, the IG said.
According to the sources, Jagmohan had enmity with a politician and wanted to use Sharma to settle scores.
On December 4, Ajay Sharma, had died and his friend, Jagmohan, was injured in a car blast on a road between Dugri and Rasoolpur village here.
Hardeep allegedly told police that he and Jagmohan were "good and old friends" who on November 27 gave him a tiffin with three boxes.
Jagmohan took back one of the box from Hardeep when he was returning with Ajay in the car.
On December 5, Hardeep fled to his relatives in Uttar Pradesh after he received information about Ajay's death and dumped the remaining two tiffin boxes in the drain.
