South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager P K Srivastava called upon railway staff today to enhance safety measures to ensure safe travel at a seminar organised here today, an official release said.
SCR Chief Safety Officer S P Sahu informed that though fire accidents in trains constitute only six per cent of train accidents, they accounted for 50 per cent of casualties.
"Though, many fire accidents are caused by factors other than those related to railways, staff should remain extremely cautious and vigilant about safety issues," he said, according to an SCR release.
