South Indian actors Vishal and Prakash Raj today visited Tamil Nadu farmers protesting at Jantar Mantar and offered their support.
Meeting the farmers in the national capital, Prakash Raj said, "Despite facing all odds of life in producing food, they are not getting better support price for their produce. How else will they survive."
Director Pandiraj of Tamil movie Pasanga fame also offered his support to the farmers.
Speaking to reporters, Pandiraj accused the governments of ignoring the hardship of farmers.
"Governments are highly condemnable for keeping farmers in such poor plight," he said.
Upping the ante, the farmers today intensified the agitation by begging with bowls and sleeping on road after abandoning the enclosures allotted to them.
"Though the centre had announced funds to the tune of Rs 1,500 crores yesterday, it is not sufficient for the damages occurred," said a farmer representative.
The farmers have been protesting for the eleventh day raising several demands to mitigate their sufferings in the drought hit state.
A group of protesting farmers had yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India demanding his intervention in their protest seeking relief to the drought-hit state.
On March 21, representatives of the farmers had also met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and put forth their demands.
