According to police, a case of abetment to suicide has been lodged against MLA Satish Nigam following the attempt by the property dealer to end his life by consuming phenyl.
The case against the Kalyanpur MLA was lodged last night by the realtor's wife at Naubasta police station here, said Kanpur SSP, Yashasvi Yadav.
According to police, Manish Bhasin consumed phenyl on Thursday in a bid to end his life before being rushed to a hospital, where his condition is said to be serious.
Bhasin further alleged that when he refused to comply, Nigam forced his way into his house and thrashed him.
The MLA also misbehaved with his wife, Bhasin alleged.
Nigam has been booked under Section 306 and 511 of IPC for abetment to suicide, police said, adding that a probe was on into the case.
