Sunil Sanghai, MD and Head, Global Banking, HSBC, talked about the rich-poor divide in the society and Artha Forum's Philosophy of disparity and balance in life, while Ashish Kumar Chauhan, CEO of BSE, shared his views on morality compass, the release said.
BSE CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan said that the onus lies upon us (people) to spread the word about the joy of giving and build a nation where everyone has an equal share, the release added.
Ronnie Screwvala, whose foundation "Swades" has employed a 360 degree approach in rural areas of nearby Raigad to tackle problem like sanitation, education, water supply, said, "time, effort and money that you really spend in a day for someone, is giving back (to the society).
Radhanath Swami, American-born spiritual leader of Indian Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), said "life has a spiritual purpose and is meant for giving back to others. Materialism can give some pleasure to the body but it does not give satisfaction to the heart."
He said, "it is imperative to connect to our souls first. When we do that it no longer matters what tax benefits we get, what fame we get from the charity. Giving selflessly makes them a part of our family, a part of us. And there is no greater happiness than that. Human evolution is going through an obsessive need to get things, but not through the joy of giving.
