Special educational scheme for meritorious students

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today launched a special educational scheme for meritorious students living below the poverty line.
The special scheme for the BPL students would cover all the rank holders, distinction holders and those securing first division in the high school leaving certificate and high madrassa examinations, Gogoi said in a statement.
He said BPL students securing second and third divisions, who enrol in government institutions, will be entitled to get admission fees, monthly fees and textbooks.
The Chief Minister directed Education Minister Sarat Borkotoky to work out the modalities for the special scheme on the anvil, the statement said.
