University officials neither confirm nor deny the rumour about Professor Dutta's resignation.
When contacted, JU registrar Dr Pradip Kumar Ghosh told PTI, "I can neither deny nor confirm this matter. I have no information on whether he has resigned or not. If there is resignation by the VC or Pro-VC, they send their letters to the Chancellor."
West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi, who is the Chancellor of the university, said, "I have not received anything till now."
