Spices hold steady in mute trade

A steady trend was witnessed in an otherwise mute spices market here today due to lack of demand from traders amidst ample supply positions.
Meanwhile, local copra, pepper and ginger markets were closed on account of bandh called by traders in protest against the imposition of LBT (local Body Tax) by the government.
Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) Closed (360/420),ginger bleached (per kg) closed (145), ginger unbleached (per kg) closed (155), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,750 (4,750), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,650 (4,650), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) closed (6,000) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) closed (5,300).
