In a reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, as per current guidelines, the ongoing projects under AIBP benefiting Desert Development Programme (DDP) area and Desert Prone Area would get central assistance of 25 per cent including the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP).
As per the modified guidelines for the AIBP, he said, new project benefiting DDP area and Desert Prone Area is treated at par with those benefiting DPAP areas is eligible for central assistance at the rate of 90 per cent for projects in Special Category States and 75 per in Non Special Category States, he added.
