One person was injured when a portion of a staircase of a building in Battala police station area in the northern part of the metropolis collapsed Wednesday, police said.
The three storey building was in a dilapidated condition and some people were inside it, sources in the Kolkata Police headquarters said.
Fire Brigade personnel, who rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information on the collapse, said that two other women were trapped in the incident.
Both the trapped women were rescued and the injured woman was admitted to a city hospital, they added.
