Actor Jimmy Smits has confirmed he will make a cameo appearance in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".
Starring as Senator Bail Organa, who was also Princess Leia's adoptive father, in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith", he will reprise his role in the upcoming stand-alone movie, reported Aceshowbiz.
Fans can expect a glimpse of him when a new trailer for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' premieres during Rio Olympics on NBC on Thursday, August 11.
Bail died in "A New Hope", but he will appear in "Rogue One" as it takes place between the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope".
In an interview on "The Talk", Smits, 61, said, "People got nothing better to do then to look at these little things? There's stuff going on in the world!" He added, "Can you say the word 'cameo'? Can you say the words 'small part'?"
In the upcoming "Star Wars" stand-alone film, Smits joins Felicity Jones, who portrays Jyn Erso.
She is a Rebellion soldier and outlaw who is about to experience her biggest challenge when Mon Mothma gives her a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.
With the aid of the Rebels, a master swordsman and non-allied forces, Jyn will be in for something bigger than she thinks.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" also stars Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed and Jonathan Aris. Based on a screenplay written by Chris Weitz, the film hits US theatres on December 17 this year.
