It is believed that the shoot is scheduled to begin on May 13 and will run through the end of the month, reported Ace Showbiz.
The Abu Dhabi set is expected to be used for Tatooine, the home world of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. Some massive scale sets have been built on the location.
Local police and military are checking all vehicles in the area and preventing tourists from getting anywhere near the sets.
Some of the movie's cast members were spotted around the location and practicing driving the vehicles they will use during the filming.
They will be joined by other cast members including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.
JJ Abrams is directing the project based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
