Tomar is leading a delegation to Australia, where he has been invited to participate in the global mining event, AIMEX 2015, in Sydney from September 1-4, the Mines Ministry said in a release.
During his visit, starting tomorrow, the minister is expected to hold "meetings with global leaders in mining sector BHP, Rio Tinto, etc to encourage them to invest in India especially in the segment of transfer of technology," it added.
He is also scheduled to meet New South Wales Premier Mike Baird, Australia Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb, Australian Industry and Science Minister Ian Macfarlane and the Premier of the state of Western Australia Colin Barnett, the release said.
A bilateral agreement between Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Geoscience Australia will also be inked to prepare a roadmap for close cooperation for capacity building for using new technology in exploration.
Asia Pacific International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX 2015) is the flagship event within the portfolio of established industrial trade fairs staged by Reed Exhibitions, Australia's leading exhibition organiser.
Tomar had been invited by the Australian Minister of Trade and Investment and the Australian High Commissioner in New Delhi to participate in the international mining event, it said.
