A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar had directed Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to take legal action against steel pickling industries operating without consent.
The NGO All India Lokadhikar Sangthan, in its fresh plea, has alleged that despite the Tribunal's order, "DPCC has failed to implement the direction passed on October 17, 2014.
"The activist/members of the NGO after visiting the areas came to know that most of the pickling and hazardous units are functioning contrary to the rules and flouting the directions of Tribunal, it appears that the pickling and hazardous industries are functioning in connivance with the employees/ officers of the DPCC," the plea alleged.
Later, it received a status report of the 17 industries which indicated that most of the industries have not yet taken due consent of the DPCC but are continuing their activities.
"Execute the order dated October 17, 2014 and the necessary directions be issued to the Civil Court for the immediate implementation of the order," the NGO said.
Steel pickling is the process of removing impurities, such as stains and inorganic contaminants from the metal.
These 17 units include Mittul Industries, Kasturi Steel Industries, Pradeep Industries, Paras Steel, Shri Krishna Re-rolling Mill, G S Enterprises, Shiv Enterprises, Goyal Enterprises, Rajesh, S V Industries, Laxmi Narain Steel Rollers, Hariram, Vijay Enterprise, Shri Ram Enterprise, Ganapati Rolling, Ganpati Steel and Jagdish Kumar.
