The 47-year-old actor will feature in the untitled film from director Bryan Singer, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.
Moyer will essay the role of Reed, who is an ambitious attorney trying to strike a work-life balance as struggles with the demands of his job at the DA's office and shoulders responsibilities towards his family.
The script of the film will be penned by Matt Nix, which focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers.
They are forced to go on the run from a hostile government as the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
