The "Army Wives" actor will play Christopher Darden in the Ryan Murphy-led project, reported Deadline.
"American Crime Story" will tell the story of the 1995 OJ Simpson trial from the perspective of the lawyers.
Brown plays Darden, a veteran lawyer with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office who finds himself working as co-counsel alongside Marcia Clark, played by "American Horror Story" star Sarah Paulson, to prosecute OJ Simpson.
The actor joins Connie Britton, Courtney B Vance and John Travolta for the 10-episode run.
"American Crime Story" is a companion series to Murphy's popular "American Horror Story" anthology series and is currently set to premiere on FX next spring.
