The court sought a report from the state within three weeks as to what action has been taken against erring officers and persons involved in alleged illegal mining in Alapur tehsil of Ambedkar Nagar district.
It asked the state government as to why mining policy has not been implemented in the state.
This order was passed by a division bench of justices Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Sanjay Harkauli on a PIL filed by a man named Gyanendra Singh seeking directions to stop illegal mining activities in the state and a CBI probe into the matter.
He also submitted that there was no mining policy in the state and this has encouraged illegal mining and also has resulted in high prices of building materials, which were obtained from mining.
The court issued aforesaid directions and listed the case after three weeks.
