Walt Disney Studios' "A Wrinkle in Time" has found its lead in rising actress Storm Reid.
The 13-year-old actress has been tapped to portray Meg Murry in the film adaptation of 1962's classic children's book by Madeleine L'Engle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the upcoming fantasy film, Reid will join the cast that currently has several A-list actresses lining up.
Oprah Winfrey has been tapped to play one of the supernatural beings known as Mrs Which.
Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are in negotiation stages to portray a former celestial being named Mrs Whatsit and a literature-quoting known as Mrs Who respectively.
Ava DuVarnay will direct the upcoming fantasy film from a screenplay provided by "Frozen (2013)" scribe and co-director Jennifer Lee.
Jim Whitaker serves as producer with Catherine Hand. Tendo Nagenda and Jessica Virtue are overseeing the project for Disney. Filming is expected to begin in Los Angeles in November.
The film is set for an April 16, 2018 release in US theatres.
Reid made her film debut in the Oscar-winning "12 Years a Slave" starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Benedict Cumberbatch.
She has a role in Sundance hit "Sleight" and recently wrapped the filming on "A Happening of Monumental Proportions" starring Katie Holmes and Allison Janney.
