Strikes in Oil and Gas sector in Assam prohibited

The Assam government has banned strikes by employees in the Oil and Gas sector in the state under the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, 1980 for six months.

A notification to this effect was issued on March 13 prohibiting strikes in Assam by officers, workmen, contract labour, tanker, driver and khalasi involved in the service in the Oil and Gas sector.

The prohibition will be in effect for a period of six months from the date of issue of the notification.
