Strong winds sweeping across the sea in the region led to delay in three trains from here today as they were stopped from running on the Pamban Bridge, connecting this island with mainland.
Railway officials said they stopped three trains, including Chennai-bound Sethu Express, for periods ranging from 30 minutes to over two hours in view of the winds.
Pamban Port Officer Vijay said the windy conditions were being experienced for the past few days and today the wind speed touched upto 65 km per hour.
The trains were allowed to run on the bridge only after the wind speed subsided.
