In the wake of the massive loss suffered by BJP in the Delhi polls, the party's southern ally PMK today asserted that it was stronger than the saffron outfit in Tamil Nadu and said its NDA partner can join an alliance under its leadership for the 2016 Assembly polls in the state.
PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss said that his party would be leading a combine for the Tamil Nadu polls even as he extended an invitation to BJP for being a part of the alliance.
"BJP can be part of the alliance to be formed under our (PMK's) leadership in Tamil Nadu. We will be happy if they join us. As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, PMK is a bigger party than BJP," Lok Sabha MP Ramadoss told reporters here.
The PMK leader's statement comes on the heels of his recent tweet, saying, "Today Kejriwal tsunami in Delhi! Next year PMK tsunami in Tamil Nadu!"
Ramadoss said that although his party had a year back contested the parliamentary elections as part of the NDA alliance under BJP, "the forthcoming elections are meant for the Assembly and we are a larger party there... Except for the DMK and AIADMK, anybody can ally with us".
When it was pointed out that BJP had contested against its alliance partners in Maharashtra and Haryana, Ramadoss, however, refused to reveal whether PMK would go it alone in the Tamil Nadu polls.
The former Union minister, meanwhile, also parried a query on whether the poll results in Delhi were a referendum on the Modi government at the Centre.
Earlier today, Ramadoss met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and sought speedy implementation of various pending railway projects in Tamil Nadu.
