A 15-year-old tribal student of a government run residential school in Koraput died after which his family alleged negligence on the part of authorities concerned.
The deceased student was identified as Ananta Balda Bhoi of Tolo Golur under Potangi block. He was a class VIII student of Ekalabya Model Residential School(EMRS), Pungar, around 30 km from here. The school is being run by the ST and SC development department.
Officials, however, dismissed the allegation made by the student's parents.
"After the student complained of stomach pain on Thursday, he was treated at the hostel. When his condition aggravated, he was taken to Kunduli community health centre, said district welfare officer of Koraput Trinath Rao.
Yesterday morning, he again complained of stomach pain and was admitted to Koraput hospital, where doctors declared him dead, Rao said.
"A police case has been registered and his body sent for autospy", he added.
Parents of the student alleged that though their son had been complaining of stomach pain since Thursday, the hostel authorities ignored the problem.
"Had my son been shifted to the district headquarters hospital on Thursday he could have been saved. The school authorities took the matter lightly," alleged Badla Bhoi, father of the student.
