Students ransack school office over suicide of classmate

Upset over the suicide of their classmate today over his suspension for alleged misbehaviour, students of a matriculation school here ransacked the office, and broke windowpanes in many classrooms, police said.
No action has been taken against them as the police is awaiting a report from the school, a police officer said.
The Class 12 boy allegedly committed suicide after he was suspended for allegedly misbehaving with lady teachers during a New Year Party thrown by the school, the officer said.
He was allowed to stay in the hostel after being asked to bring his parents. Today, he had informed his classmates that he was going to the bathroom, but did not return following which a search was launched. He was found hanging in his room.

His body was later taken to the government hospital here, the officer said, adding his Madurai-based parents have not yet filed a complaint.
