The elections were held in 151 government colleges, around 1,500 private colleges and 10 universities across the state except Udaipur division where the elections are slated for August 30.
The students union elections in colleges and one university in Udaipur division were not held today due to the government's 'Sarkar Apke Dwar' campaign, Joint Secretary (Higher Education), Vankat Ramani said.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, state ministers and senior officials are visiting the division comprising six districts of Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh and Rajsamand and holding public meetings for grievance redressal from August 23 to August 25.
Another police official informed that there were reports of minor incidents of confrontation in Alwar and Dausa but the situation remained mainly under control.
Results, except in University of Rajasthan and its constituent colleges in Jaipur, are expected to be declared by tonight.
Vice Chancellor of University of Rajasthan-Jaipur, Dr Dev Swarup, said that the High Court has directed the university administration to furnish, before declaring results, an affidavit stating that the elections have been conducted in compliance with the recommendation of Lyngdoh Committee.
The high court hearing a complaint filed by one Saransh Ghiya yesterday directed the university registrar and police commissioner to submit the affidavit.
The complainant had alleged that candidates and their supporters were violating rules and the university has failed to ensure compliance of the Lyngdoh committee recommendation.
He said that there were reports of indiscipline by students during campaigning outside the campus which caused trouble for common people.
Large number of vehicles, also from outside the state, were used by candidates.
