College students from Punjab, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore visited various places in Jammu, as part of Army's national integration tour.
The eight-day trip, which began on December 26, was organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battallion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) and named 'Sarhad Ki Aur,' , a Defence spokesman said here today.
Ten girls and eight boys from various disciplines including architecture, mass communication and fashion designing visited Jammu, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts as part of an endeavour to promote national integration and spread the message of peace and brotherhood, he said.
The students were accompanied by two lady professors.
They visited Chakan-da-Bagh at Poonch, Bagh-E-Bahu Aquarium and Fort at Jammu, Mata Vaishno Devi, Budha Amarnath Shrines and Gurudwara Nagali Saheb in Poonch.
During the tour, the students had an interaction with their counterparts from Jammu University and Government Degree College, Poonch.
The students also participated in motorcycle-rally 'Ride for Peace', the spokesman said.
"This tour has changed our entire perception about Jammu and Kashmir," Deepti Dhingra, Associate Professor of Dashmesh Institute of Research & Dental Sciences, Faridkot, who was part of the touring group, said.
It was heartening to see the manner in which we have been welcomed and all the participants were truly overwhelmed by the warmth showered upon us, she added.
