Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai and actors Padmini Kolhapure and Shraddha Kapoor today inaugurated an initiative by Entertainment Society of Goa, titled the Bioscope Village at the 48th edition of the International Film Festival of India.
The filmmaker and the aunt-niece duo officially opened the Village, where films will be screened for public in Picture Time Digiplex, that are mobile theatres, till November 27.
"This is a great initiate by IFFI to bring those people to theatre who can't afford to buy a ticket worth Rs 400. It is a great concept to introduce our new generation to classic cinema," Ghai said at the event.
Some classic films such as "Half Ticket", "Golmaal" and "Mr India" will be shown at the Digiplex, along with English counterparts such as "Seven Samurai" and "Bicycle Thieves".
These films would be open to public without any charges.
Bioscope Village, with a theme of New Age Cinema, will consist of four inflated theatres with 5.1 sound system, where screenings will be held everyday.
Shraddha's "Aashiqui 2" was the first film to be screend at one of the inflated theatres. The screening of the movie was attended by Goa Chief Minister and vice-chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa, Manohar Parrikar.
The actor, who has shot for "Aashiqui 2" and "Ek Villain" in Goa, said coming to the event was special for her.
"It is a great intiative by IFFI. It is an amazing addition to the festival," she said.
Padmini shared her grandmother was from Goa and she always enjoys visiting the state.
