The gherao was led by party MLA Tarun Naskar and it was lifted after their demand was dismissed, a police official said.
The seven persons, including some SUCI(C) supporters, were arrested for allegedly attacking a police team in which three cops were injured at Manibashtala last night, they said.
The policemen were attacked when they had gone to the area to execute an arrest warrant against one Sujit Sardar for being involved in encroachment on a government land.
Police officials said they used lathis to disperse the crowd resisting the arrest of Sardar but denied damaging any property.
