Sugar advances on rising demand
Press Trust of India Mumbai Prices of both varieties of sugar advanced smartly at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to rising demand from stockists and retailers on the back of seasonal offtake.
Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 70/32 per quintal to Rs 2,732/2,822 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,662/2,790.
Medium sugar (M-30) rose by Rs 50/37 per quintal at Rs 2,832/2,962 as against to Rs 2,782/2,925 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,832/2,962 (Rs 2,782/2,925).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,732/2,822 (Rs 2,662/2,790).
