Sugar advances on seasonal demand, supply pressure

Sugar prices of both varieties rallied smartly at the Vashi wholesale sugar market today following heavy offtake by stockists as well as strong upcountry enquiries amid restricted arrivals.
Small sugar (S-30) rose by Rs 50/60 per quintal to settle at Rs 3,532/3,642 per quintal from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,482/3,582.
Medium sugar (M-30) also shot up by Rs 90/70 per quintal to end at Rs 3,632/3,742 as compared to Rs 3,542/3,672 yesterday.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,532/3,642 (Rs 3,482/3,582).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,632/3,742 (Rs 3,542/3,672).
