Sugar factory seized for non-payment of dues to farmers

Officials today seized a sugar factory at Hospet in the district for non-payment of dues with interest, amounting to Rs 9.84 crore to sugarcane farmers.
The dues related to 2002-03 and 2006-07, officials said, adding Indian Sugar Refinery had earlier been issued notice for not clearing the oustanding dues to about 8,000 farmers.
The seizure was effected by Hospet Tashildar, Chandrakant, the officials said.
