Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today set May 30 as the deadline to make Punjab the best state in the ease of doing business.
Chairing a review meeting to further improve the business climate in the state, he claimed Punjab will emerge as the best state in all aspects taken in account while evaluating the level of ease of doing business.
He also issued instructions to all departments concerned and asked Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal to hold review meetings to assess their performance, an official release said.
He also expressed satisfaction over the progress and performance of various departments, and directed departments concerned to make all registration and clearances processes easier, besides removing impediments, if any.
Sukhbir asked the officers to comply with all suggestions which were to be reviewed in next meeting on May 20.
During the meeting, CEO of Invest Punjab Anirudh Tiwari said seven out of 10 announcements made by the Deputy CM, during "Invest Punjab Summit-2015", were fulfilled and the work on three others was in progress.
He said labour department had issued orders to all its field officers not to conduct any inspection without prior permission of Labour Commissioner.
Department of Industries & Commerce had also been notified for self certification of documents and third party annual inspection of boilers, so no boiler inspector would visit any industry unless requested by the concerned unit.
Tiwari also apprised Sukhbir that orders have also been issued that electrical inspector will not inspect any firm unless requested by the owner.
Similarly, excise and taxation department had notified to issue permanent TIN in seven days and for issuing construction permit to industry a joint inspection would be carried out by all the agencies concerned which includes town and country planning, fire department and airport authority.
He further said proposal to setup Rs 100 crore startup fund was in progress as provision for this had already been made in the budget 2016-17 and it would be rolled out shortly.
