Sukhbir tells cops to resolve people's complaints in a week

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today directed senior police officials to ensure speedy and timely settlement of grievances of the people and said the pendency of the complaints should not be for more than a week.
While listening to the grievances of the people during a 'Sangat Darshan' (meeting people) programme here, he said the SAD-BJP government has taken corrective measures to ensure a crime-free environment in Punjab and has directed the state police administration to make sure that there should not be any pendency in the cases once brought to his notice.
He directed Principal Secretary P S Aujla to personally look into the pendency of such complaints and submit a status report to him in the next week's 'Sangat Darshan'.

During the programme, more than 840 people from across the state met Badal with their grievances and issues, a spokesman said, adding that most of them had complaints related to police, revenue, transfers and civil cases.
To resolve the grievances of Punjab residents living in and around New Delhi, Badal announced that similar 'Sangat Darshan' programmes will be held in Punjab Bhawan at Delhi every Saturday.
Terming the programme as a "fruitful exercise", he said people are benefited as they are able to get their pending issues resolved immediately.

Assuring sports persons, he said the state government will provide jobs to medal winners who exhibit extraordinary talent in national and international sport events.

On the issue of transfers in various departments, the Deputy Chief Minister said the last date fixed for it has lapsed and no transfer will be done in this session.
He said the government is in the process of completing the conscription process in all departments and very soon unemployed youths will be recruited.
