TV series based on the DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) will air on CBS network.
The new series stars "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, who escaped Krypton amid its destruction years ago, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
"Supergirl" hails from "Arrow" executive producer Greg Berlanti and "The New Normal's" Ali Adler, who will write and executive-produce it.
The drama is one of CBS' relatively efforts to venture outside of its standard crime procedural comfort zone.
The series also stars Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood, while Laura Benanti, Dean Cain and Helen Slater are among the pilot's guest stars.
