A three-day exhibition showcasing the Defence forces' arms and ammunitions and models of assets was inaugurated here Friday as part of the nation-wide commemoration of the second anniversary of the Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control.

Naval Officer-in-Charge of Tamil Nadu and Puduchery Alok Bhatnagar inaugurated the exhibition, where the public can also view a fresh video clip of the surgical strikes released by the centre Thursday, a defence official said.

The clip, which was made using overhead footage from unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs and thermal imaging, shows a terror launch pad being destroyed.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced last week that various events will be held from September 28 to 30 to commemorate the valour of soldiers.

Exhibits on the weaponry of the defence forces and models, including that of ships, among others are on display at the event being held at a Kendriya Vidyalaya here.

On September 29, 2016, the Army carried out surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation to an attack on its base in Uri earlier that month.
