"Surya Group plans to make major foray in LED segment and envisages investing Rs 25 crore towards capital expenditure in the near future. The company has already invested Rs 20 crore for launching wide range of products," Surya Roshni Managing Director B Raju said in a statement here.
Surya has harnessed state-of-the-art technology and emerged with the best value products in the LED light segment. After investing Rs 20 crore for research, a wide range of products for indoor applications have been launched including LED lamps, batons, down lighters and decorative luminaries.
For the current year, the Rs 4,000 crore group envisages a sales turnover of about Rs 150 crore from the LED segment with a strong and extensive dealer and retail network throughout the country.
Over the next 3-4 years, Surya expects a turnover of Rs 1,800 crore from its lighting division itself and is positive about its prospects in the near and long-term, he added.
Raju said that the group company Surya Roshni Ltd manufactures about 80 per cent of the total production in-house with just 20 per cent being outsourced.
Surya's LED lamps are totally mercury-free and saves 96 per cent energy. Besides, the life of the LED lamps is 25,000 hours which works out to about 15 years with a wide voltage range of 110 to 300 volts, he said.
On the export front, the group exports to more than 44 countries including Europe, North and South America, South-East Asia with its basic range of products including tubelights, CFLs and gradually it will be adding its LED product range to its export basket, Raju said.
