Modi also sought to make light of the resignation of Mahesh Jethmalani, saying he is an "outsider" in the party.

"Gadkari himself has asked for probe into charges of corruption against him to prove the falshood of the allegations. The central party leadership is seized of the matter and I am with it," Modi, a senior BJP leader, told reporters on the sidelines of "Janata ke Darbar me Upmukhya Mantri."

Speaking further on the resignation of Mahesh Jethmalani, Modi said, "He is basically a lawyer and an outsider in the party. Hence his leaving the party would have no impact".
