Suspended IPS officer prays for impounded passport

The suspended police officer MS Jaffar today filed a petition before the Madras High Court praying for a direction to the Special Court to return his impounded passport to enable him to undertake Haj pilgrimage.
The former ADGP who is facing a criminal case registered under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, in his petition submitted that the anti-corruption wing seized his passport in 2011 and it was now in the custody of the Special Court.
The seized passport has expired now, he stated.
The official submitted that ahead of his daughter's marriage fixed for this May 25, he intended to visit Mecca and Madina on a pilgrimage along with his family members.
As he need to apply for fresh passport after surrendering the existing passport, he prayed for a direction to the court to return his passport.
Justice Aruna Jagadeesan issued notices to the state and adjourned the matter for further hearing to a later date.
