The Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India will make its foray into electoral politics by contesting Delhi civic body polls scheduled for next year.
Swaraj India spokesperson Anupam said the party will soon take a decision on whether to contest state elections in Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The party, which was launched on October 2, has also formed an eight-member team, headed by Ajit Jha, to oversee the municipal election in Delhi.
Swaraj Abhiyan, the ideological parent of Swaraj India, had backed an independent candidate in the recent MCD bypoll in Wazirpur. However, the candidate lost.
"A ground-level assessment will be done by the state leaders and observers, following which the decision to contest state polls will be taken," Anupam said.
Early this week, Yadav had said that the party was considering contesting MCD polls.
"Some of the finest volunteers of the anti-corruption movement come from Delhi. Our largest volunteer base is also from Delhi," Yadav had said.
Asked whether the party would contest Punjab polls, he said his party does not want to be a "vote-katva" (create division in votes).
"We are quite clear that we get into the game only and only if it seems to us that we are not there merely as spoiler. That's not our political front," Yadav had said.
