Swine flu claims second life in MP since July

Swine flu has claimed its second victim in Madhya Pradesh since July, with the death of a woman at a hospital here, officials said.
So far, 22 positive cases of swine flu have been reported in Madhya Pradesh since July 1 this year, Director of Madhya Pradesh Health Services, Dr K L Sahu, said today.
"The woman, aged around 25-years, died at Chirayu Medical College here yesterday. This is the second death in the state due to swine flu since July 1. The woman, a resident of neighbouring Raisen district, was admitted to the hospital on August 8," he said.

The state Health Department has made elaborate arrangements to control the spread of H1N1 virus, Sahu added.
According to Dr Sahu, a 35-year old woman had succumbed to the H1N1 infection in the first week of this month in Jabalpur, but he attributed this death due to delayed admission of patient.
"Besides these two deaths, 22 people have tested positive for swine flu since July 1 this year. Isolation wards have been created in all the district hospitals in the state to tackle the situation," he said adding that, the guidelines issued by the Centre had been forwarded to the authorities concerned in the districts.

Ten beds in hospitals with a capacity of more than 300 beds, five beds in hospitals with 100 to 300 beds and two beds in hospitals having 50 beds, have been reserved for the patients of swine flu, Sahu said.
