Synthetic track inaugurated in Calicut University stadium

Synthetic tracks laid at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore was today inaugurated at the C H Mohammed Koya stadium in the Calicut University Campus.
Ace athletes including Anju Bobby George and Mercy Kuttan were among those present at the inauguration.
Nearly 1,500 people, including Vice-Chancellor, DrK Mohammed Basheer, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Mohan and public, read out a declaration marking the inauguration of the synthetic tracks.
The tracks had been laid as per stipulated international standards and measures. The funds were alloted by the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry and the works started in 2013, a release from the university said.

The 13th National Youth Athletic Championship from May 26 and 28 would be the first event to be staged on the new track, it said.
