Meanwhile, at a Republic Day function in Harsaon police lines here Ram Gopal Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP and secretary general of Samajwadi party said, terrorism was the biggest challenge for the world and particularly India.
Yadav was the chief guest at Republic Day parade at Harsaon police lines.
Addressing a gathering of police and civilians after taking salute from marching contingents, Yadav said that intentions of our neighbouring country are not just.
"Nearly two decades ago people used to visit Rajpath in large numbers to watch the Republic Day parade but now a days many avoid it fearing harassment due to frisking and several other security checks and it all happened due to escalation in terrorist activities," he said.
Government must rein the social media as it has become the biggest instrument for spreading hatred and rumour in most of the recent communal flare ups in various towns of the state, he said.
Yadav also awarded mementos and certificates to several police and fire brigade officers for their distinguished and meritorious services.
