He launched the scheme at the government maternity hospital at Petlaburz here in the presence of Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and others.
Under the scheme, the government would provide a financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to women who give birth to female child and Rs 14,000 for male child.
A kit comprising baby soaps, baby oil, two dresses, towels, mosquito net and two sarees for the mother would be given, according to a state government release.
The scheme is aimed at helping poor women who are forced to work to make a decent living even during pregnancy and lead to a 'healthy Telangana', the release added.
