T'gana govt to give priority to water supply in Hy'bad: KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed officials to take steps to meet the drinking water needs in Hyderabad by taking into account the present and future population of the city.
Rao held a meeting today on the issue of the drinking water supply in the capital, a release from his office said.
He said the population of the city is likely to increase in the coming years because of industrialisation.
The Chief Minister said requirements of industries, hotels, hospitals, railways, educational institutions, airport, along with the general public, should be kept in mind while preparing plans for drinking water supply in the city.

He suggested that the works relating to transferring Godavari river water from Yellampally to Hyderabad should be expedited and that Krishna water should also be transferred from Srisailam to Hyderabad.
He said Rs 100 crore would be released to the Hyderabad Water Board.
The government would give priority to water supply in Hyderabad, the way it is giving for laying water grid across the state, the release quoted Rao as saying.
