There had been reports of outsiders entering the campus during night hours and being involved in drug abuse. Vice-chancellor Suranjan Das had asked all stake holders to help in improving public perception about JU and sought the cooperation from everyone to help combat any such activity.
Das said today, "We will hear from all sides at the discussion. We will not impose anything, we will not go to the talks with pre-set ideas or agenda. I don't believe in imposing anything.
Arts Faculty Students' Union (AFSU) General Secretary Debraj Debnath said, "We are positive about the talks. We think there should be discipline and security at the campus. But again we are also in favour of maintaining the liberal space of JU."
A Jadavpur University Teachers Association member said, "We will take part in the discussion which will be held in first week of January after the Christmas vacation."
AFSU and FETSU members said such incidents should not be allowed to happen in the campus.
