In the passenger vehicles category, global sales stood at 51,749 units last month as against 51,021 units in April 2015, up 1 per cent.
Sales of luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover rose marginally to 40,933 units last month as compared to 40,665 units in April 2015.
The company's sales of commercial vehicles in April was up by 11 per cent to 29,584 units from 26,680 units a year ago.
