Speaking to reporters while campaigning for the Gajuwaka CPM contestant Narasinga Rao, Karat attacked BJP as well as Congress, alleging that both parties are two sides of the same coin and that the country deserved an alternative which the CPM could provide.
"An analysis of manifestos of BJP and Congress will make it clear that there is not much difference between the two. The tragedy of Indian politics is that there is no difference between the government and the principal opposition, especially when it came to economic policies. There is so much similarity in BJP and Congress manifestos that Rahul Gandhi blamed BJP for copying the Congress manifesto".
Karat said that Modi should first get some lessons in history before aspiring to become the Prime Minister. She attacked Modi's comments on the Article 370 and said that through his comments he has ridiculed the constitution.
Attacking the much touted "Gujarat model" of development, she said that the model has not given any positive results and it is not at all suitable for India's development.
She said BJP had always wanted a two-party system in India and that the Congress had reached its "expiry date".
