The Delhi government has directed its schools to teach students the dos and don'ts of controlling vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue.
It has also asked them to raise awareness among their parents.
At least 125 cases of malaria, 152 of chikungunya and nearly 100 of dengue have been recorded in the national capital till July 1 this year, according to the latest municipal report.
A communication sent to the principals has asked them to ensure the dos and don'ts are displayed at prominent places on the school premises.
"Further, during assembly all students and teachers may be sensitised to check mosquito-breeding in and around their houses."
The communication also lists some preventive measures suggesting to dry desert coolers and containers, use mosquito-repellent on exposed body parts during daytime, wear full-sleeve clothes and long dresses and take weekly anti- larval measures in and around construction sites where water collects.
