Mohammed Aslam, who runs a private school at his house, has been arrested for trying to rape a Class II student yesterday, said P M Tripathi, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
According to the complaint filed by the girl's family, Aslam asked the victim to stay back after school hours for some work and then tried to rape her, Tripathi said.
But the girl managed to escape.
Later, her family and locals gathered at Aslam's house and pelted stones, he said.
The girl was sent for the medical examination.
