A complaint was lodged by the student's father yesterday, following which the class teacher as well as the principal of the school were booked under relevant sections of the IPC, a police official said.
The teacher allegedly punished the student on Monday by badly hitting him with a scale, according to the complaint.
When the boy came home crying, his parents sought to know the reason following which he told them about the punishment.
No arrests have been made so far, police said.
Last month, three students of a school in Virar, who were given corporal punishment, ended their life. A case in this regard is presently being probed by the State CID.
